We have playing this tune for all the years of our band (1958). We have
always done it with two guys singing harmony and more recently we have
added the verse which sets the tune up nicely. When I started singing it, I
was disappointed that a second chorus didn't exist for a final chorus out,
so I wrote one. Here it is for you youngsters just discovering how much
fun it is.

VERSE:
Down by the beach lives the cutest little peach,
And I must say, she has the sweetish way.
Playing a chord, on a washboard
>From everywhere in town, people would gather 'round
Just to hear her play

Chorus 1:
On her Coney Island wasbboard she would play
Play it on the boardwalk every day.
With soapsuds all around, and bubbles on the ground
Rub a dub a dub, in her little tub, all those tunes she found
The thimbles on her fingers made the noise,
Playing Charleston on the laundry for the boys.
She could rag a tune right through the knees,
Of a brand new pair of B-V-Ds
A Coney Island Washboard round-de-lay.

Chrous 2:
New the Coney Island train she claimed her spot.
Playing chords that always sounded hot.
Those tunes that started low, ended with a tremolo.
Zip pit tee do da, that cute little mama, played a thimbles' arpeggio.
Low down blues was a specialty of show
Won American Idol hands-down, don't you know.
While she played sweetly through her Bach,
Her Mozart's Requiem really rocked.
A Coney Island symphonic foxy trot.

I encourage you to write new lyrics for old tunes, especially those that
will resonate with new young audiences. Not sure how complete the FH5
arrangement was, people can contact me for a lead copy of the verse.
