Hello Larry,

Google translation is very amazing. If you say "Ça vous dérange si je
m'assois en?", nobody will understand what you mean !
You've better to speak english if your french is not sure (as my english is
!).
In french, we use an expression like this : "J'aimerais faire le boeuf avec
vous, est-ce possible ?"
"Le Boeuf" in the sense of "Jam Session". It cames from an old parisian
cabaret (beginning of he XXth century) : "Le Boeuf sur le toit".

I hope you'll find a band in Paris to play music with.
