[Dixielandjazz] Kenny Ball High Society

Hi Brian,

I suppose I have been fooled before by my ears before but I think it is just the trumpet and clarinet playing in unison. Therefore the Bb trumpet part would be the same as the Bb clarinet part as originated by Alphonse Picou - or variation thereof such as Johnny Dodds with King Oliver, or Sidney Bechet and Albert Nicolas playing successive choruses with Jelly Roll Morton. Certainly unison is the way the KB Jazzmen used to play it in the clubs way back in the early 60's. It was a remarkable feat of trumpet playing from Kenny, especially at the tempo they take it. Wow!

I apologise if this topic has been resolved. I only get the digest and I sometimes miss replies.

Best,

Grah

Would anyone have a trumpet sheet of the duet played in Kenny Ball’s High Society ,
We play this number quite often and to add the duet playing to the clarinet solo would be most
   appreciated
