[Dixielandjazz] Fwd: view the preservation hall jazz band on utube over an hour long (Jazzman joe)

as a leader of a band of kids who don't get any opportunity to view much of
any kind of not-pop music in their surroundings, I am insisting they watch
this concert. I won't have to twist any arms once they see the start of it:
the musicianship is excellent, you can diss them if you like, but I would
not kick them out of any band, and their decorum and presentation are to be
emulated, and that drummer is amazing. No, this isn't King Oliver, but to
a student watching it is every bit as inspiring as the Wynton Marsalis
new-years-eve show, maybe more so because it doesn't give the impression
you have to be rich to play this stuff. They are informal, friendly,
street-worthy, and that, according to Louis Armstrong, is how it was back
in the beginning, and that's good enough for me.

what I do wish was on video though is that concert the Armstrong museum
just gave for 500 school children. My teens will watch just about
anything, but the junior kids really could do with seeing other junior kids
in a sea of OKOM fans.
