In Australia it translates as "Sh#t On Liver" - otherwise bad tempered.>

Oh dear, what a lot of unimaginative barbarians inhabit the rest of the 
world.  The farther one gets from England the worse things are.

In my area someone who is bad tempered or out of sorts is described as 
"having a Laurence`

It might be said of such a person "Oh!, he's got a proper Laurence on"

There, isn`t that a much more cultured phrase which uses the nuances of the 
English language to express a rather nebulous state of mind.

Beats "Sh#t on liver hands down".  Dont`cha know!
