It seems to me to be significant that Okeh issued the "Blind Willie Dunn"
sides on their "Race Series" - numbered 8000 upwards, whereas Tommy Dorsey
recordings were issued on their 40000 series. Tommy Dorsey recorded in New
York City November 20, 1928 playing trumpet and trombone and these three
sides were issued on Okeh's 40000 series. The BWD sides were recorded on
November 23, 1928 (also in NY City), but these were issued on Okeh's 8000
series.
Notable jazz experts Ralph G.V. Venables, John H. Baker, Harry Avery, Brian
A.L. Rust, and Walter C. Allen all identified the cornet player on the BWD
sides as King Oliver. Venables stated that King Oliver's name was in the
Okeh files, but Helene Chmura denied this. This latter information is taken
from the 1957 Jazz Book Club edition of "King Joe Oliver" by Walter C. Allen
and Brian A.L. Rust.

Cheers
