Thank you, Bill.
That must be the definitive anwer. Still, I find it difficult to
believe that back in 1958 people at RCA US would have considered a
British band, so in this case I'll opt for Billy May.
Ambrose's was not a jazz only band, but it could swing with the best
of them (the Count excluded), and made sme excellent swing records.
The Sid Phillis arrangements for that band seem to be more swinging
than his arrangments for his own bands!
