[Dixielandjazz] The Caoba Jazz Band - and repertoire

How many of you have heard of that excellent Argentinian band?  Many
probably know the Portena Jazz Band, but Caoba?
I've just heard its GHB  CD (BCD 395) for the fourth time in a row,
and each time enjoyed it better.  George H. Buck and the GHB Jazz
Foundation should be commended for making available music by bands
which, otherwise, would reamin in the realm of the unknown.  The band
is red hot and swings like mad!  And now retails at $10, as part of
the GHB overstock sale, so it's really worth your effort and money.

And what a fantastic repertoire!  Only two warhorses: Tiger RAg and I
Ain't Got Nobody.  The other numbers, although some are by well known
composers, are quite rare: Wall St. Wail and Jungle Jamboree by
Ellington, Jelly ?Roll Morton's Ham & Eggs and Don't You Leave Me
Here, Clarence Williams' Bozo - how often do you hear these played?
Or Starvation Blues, Ain't Gonna Tell Nobody, Blue Blower's Blues,
Wasn't It Nice?, Yearning for Mandalay, Tulsa Blues and Dreaming the
Hours Away?  I mentioned the matter of repertoire - playing the same
standards ad nauseam - not long ago.  So here you have an example of a
band with much wider repertoire, and only one number - Bozo - among
the rarely played numbers mentioede in that posting.
