Bunny Berigan Jazz Jubilee Takes Place
In Fox Lake, WI on May 16, 17, 18

Some of the best Dixieland Jazz Music in
the nation will take place in Fox Lake, WI on May 16, 17, 18, 2014,  as the Bunny Berigan Jazz Jubilee, 2014, event
happens.  Jazz musicians from all over
the nation will converge on Fox Lake for a weekend of “up-lifting, fun-loving” music.  The weekend is in honor of Bunny
Berigan, the famous Trumpet player, who was raised in Fox Lake.
The music will begin on Friday afternoon
at 4:00 PM when a FREE
concert, sponsored by “Moose” Mullin Mayor of Fox Lake and owner of Mullin’s
Drive-In, takes place in the lawn of Mullin’s Drive-In.  From that FREE concert where all can get a
sample of the music to be played all weekend, everyone can enjoy the music of
the Bunny Berigan Memorial Band led by Rev. Al Townsend with Bob Schulz and
Bob Hirsch, Wisconsin natives now living in California.  The band line-up for this year goes on to feature The Bob Schulz
All-Stars led by Bob Schulz, The Vagabond Reeds led by David MacGregor, The Kaye
Berigan 5Tet featuring Kaye Berigan, nephew of the great Bunny Berigan and The
Barb City Stompers led by John Skillman, featured member of the Buck Creek Jazz
Band.  Special artist, Steve Lilley, of
St. Louis will be on stage as a member of the Bunny Berigan Memorial Band.  Past scholarship winner, Matt Miller, will be
leading his band Sunday at noon, letting the audience know what that
scholarship meant to his career as a musician.
       Sunday
there will be a morning service held at Bunny’s grave site and the dedication
of the grave marker of Joyce Berigan Hansen who has been buried near her
Father.  The service will be very moving.
As always at this wonderful event,
there will be delicious food, a CD-Music Store, available dance floor, special
souvenirs, an auction of instruments, informational talks about Bunny, and
beautiful halls that will send everyone right into the “best of times with
Dixieland Jazz and other wonderful music.
