Dear Bob, Tom Wiggins and Robert Calder,
In my reply to Bob, I suggested that he was not listening to the 1967 Spirituals To Swing performance as he thought, but perhaps it was the 1952 Peacock 1612 78rpm disc.
Off List Bob has confirmed my guess.
So who WAS on the Peacock record session?
According to my files Willie Mae 'Big Mama' Thornton was accompanied at the session on 13 August 1952 in LA by Kansas City Bill & Orchestra [Johnny Otis' Orchestra]: Don Johnston (trumpet) George Washington (trombone) James Von Streeter (tenor sax) Fred Ford (baritone sax) Devonia Williams (piano) Pete Lewis (guitar) Albert Winston (bass) Leard Bell (drums) Johnny Otis (vibes).
At least we had fun guessing and re-listening to these great old sides.

Very kind regards,
Bill.
