Bob,
I remember Danny Kaye and his impact over here.
I had several records , 78`s and I believe on the Brunswick label,
I knew the `Cinema Foyer` performance off by heart `this is a picture which
ends in the middle for the benefit of those who came in in the middle` and
was trying to copy his `call up` sequence from the film `Up in Arms? with
the Andrews Sisters.(I think)
When Kaye came to the Palladium my regiment was stationed at the Tower of
London (For pictures of me on parade there in 1948 see Youtube `Wavell at
the Tower. Me second from left.front rank) which was not far from the
Pally. I think most of the Regiment tried to get tickets, mainly
unsuccesfully, we were not paid much. Everyone was keen except a morose type
from the North of England who delivered the immortal line `Dinny Kuy! `oose
Dinny Kuy? They really do talk like that `oop North.
Incidentally. I didn`t get a ticket. That ranks with another major
disappointment in my life when I did not get a ticket to see Louis either.
Another of life's setbacks
Pat
