[Dixielandjazz] FH5+2 revisited.

Dear listmates,

I had like to mention some more side effects to the FH5+2 and their recordings.

1. The story goes that the originator of the GOOD TIME JAZZ label, Lester Koenig,
only was able to start CONTEMPORARY RECORDS, the West Coast cousin of BLUE NOTE
RECORDS , because of the money he made off the FH5+2 record sales.

2. In the fifties and sixties in Europe -I am restricting myself to the Dutch Jazz scene-
the bop-revival war was maybe worse than in the U.S.A.
Both parties took their preference very serious, no humour involved.
Till the FH5+2 records sailed across the ocean to invade Europe. Both bop and revival
addicts agreed on this unifying verdict: "energy, humour & musicianship all coverged".
Anyway, that was the way I perceived their records, without ever visiting Disneyland.

3. Did not the Old Master, Jelly Roll Morton, use some special effects to bring in some Hokum
    in some very serious business?

Frank Selman.
