The Sacto Jazz Festival has been losing audience for 10 years. For
much of that time, there were, if anything, TOO MANY DIXIELAND BANDS.
Some of them bad to mediocre.

So the excuse that the audience didn't come because OKOM bands weren't
there is a lot of hooey. The audience no long came because they are
either DEAD or too infirm to travel to Sacto. I agree with Bob
Ringwald that there simply are not enough dyed in the wool trad jazz
fans to make a festival of any real size successful. (which for the
producers means PROFITABLE)

Look around you folks. OKOM Festivals are dying rapidly, or changing
to add additional genres of music in order to attract fans and money
that will keep them viable.

Finally, for those who say I'm not going to Sacto. That's fine. Who
needs your attendance? I suggest you go to a competing jazz festival
that weekend in nearby Roseville CA.

Once there, you can see/hear Cell Block 7 playing West Coast Trad Jazz
from 12:45 PM to 2 PM on Sunday. If you go the whole weekend you'll
also hear the following sets:

Glenn Miller & Four Freshmen tributes.
Cynthia Douglas (former Motown singer)
Jim Martinez & Yve Evans Gospel
Yve Evans on piano and vocals
Cami Thompson (vocalist from Reno)
Joe Gilman (solo piano)
Piano solos & Duets (Eve, Joe and Jim)
Doris Day Jazz tribvute
Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra Tribute.

Check out this exciting website about the above Placer County Jazz
Festival: http://www.pcjazzfest.com/
Hosted by Sherman Clay Pianos.

Come on complainers, get real. The audience for your brand of trad
jazz is fast disappearing. And those of you that remain are part of
the problem, not the solution.

Cheers,
