Brunies had several showmanship tricks that he used.

Besides playing the slide with his foot, (often in cutting contests  
where he would defeat the others) he also played it no hands, no feet.  
He would bend over and let the slide touch the floor. Then move his  
head up and down to get the notes.

He also invited women to stand on his chest while he lay on his back  
and played. Two rules for this. No high heels and no gal over 150 lbs.  
Or men could sit on his chest while he played. I saw him do this at  
Condon's in the late 1940s, before he went  back to Chicago circa 1949.
