These titles were recorded for use in the weekly Standard (Oil Company) School Broadcasts on NBC to illustrate Afro-American music as part of a series titled "Music From Other Lands" and was broadcast in the spring of 1945 with announcer Frank Barton.
I suggest that you invest in the English Upbeat URCD187 CD 'Kid Ory - Portrait of the Greatest Slideman Ever Born. Edward 'Kid Ory' 18886-1973", which contains all the above, except the final 'High Society".
If only for Orson Welles' 3-minute emotional eulogy introduction to 'Jimmie's Blues'.
(It still raises the hairs on the back of my neck. As does Mutt Carey's wailing cornet solo and last chorus.
Proved just now when I played it. the track.)
I initially had this full version on an English Joy 264 LP.
Very kind regards,
Bill.
PS: How would you pidgeon-hole this music?
New Orleans or New Orleans Revival?
