Dear Bob,
"Yellow Dog Blues" was published by Pace & Handy Music Company (Memphis, Tenn.) in 1915.
The first recording I have noted in my files is by Handy's Memphis Blues Band recorded for Lyratone in September 1919 along with these other well-known Handy 'compositions':
Beale Street Blues
Joe Turner Blues
Hesitating Blues
