[Dixielandjazz] "St. James Infirmary Blues" and "House of the Rising Sun" connections?

Hi all,

While reading a short article about the song "House of the Rising
Sun"<http://www.americanbluesscene.com/2011/11/a-brief-history-of-house-of-the-rising-sun/>I
recalled how similar the that tune is to "St. James Infirmary" so I
did
some quick searching and this turned
up.<http://www.bestofneworleans.com/gambit/name-that-tune/Content?oid=1244407>
The author did not show any link between the songs, but I still wonder -
the melodies are sure in the same family (to my ears, anyway ;-)

Any comments or things the authors might have missed?
