[Dixielandjazz] An Evening With Bria Skonberg By Joe Lang

I have mentioned trumpeter/vocalist Bria Skonberg on the list a few times. This evening
I saw her at the Bickford Theater at the Morris Museum in Morristown, NJ perform
a program titled "Brass and Belles," a tribute to singer and trumpet player combinations
like Ella and Louis, Anita and Roy, and Louis and Keely. She did both the singing
and trumpet playing. Without any attempts at imitation, she captured the esssence
of those to whom she paid tribute. She had a terricic band with Dan Levinson on tenor
sax and clarinet, Ehud Asheire on piano, Sean Cronin on bass and Dan Glass on drums.
It was a spirited group that provided a terrific evening of mainstream jazz.
Bria will be at the Iridium on Sunday evening at 8:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M. She will
