Well, you were right Steve, it is not a faithful trad reprise. It
certainly doesn't get anywhere near Oliver. A rather strange
conglomeration of styles. It is fine for what it is. It swings, but it
is nothing really to write home about. Just watched 'Dippermouth'.
Why is it that drummers who try and play old style on blocks always
sound uncomfortable and on the beat? It is as though they never heard
Baby Dodds. I found the drummer over fussy.
Not really impressed with the piano. The sax solo seemed very out of
place to me or to to put it another way, very in place with the rhythm
section, which puts the rest out of place to my ears.
I enjoyed the clarinet.
I'm off to listen to the shellacs!
