Apparently very few on this lists watch Boardwalk Empire on HBO. I don't
either, don't even have HBO. But it won The Grammy Award for Best
Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media. It's a very popular program with
the younger generation. *And the Best Compilation Soundtrack they are
hearing is Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks!*
Young people are listening to OUR music! They don't realize it yet, any
more than we did listening to cartoons when we were kids. People generally
like the music they know. And now they are getting to know our kind of
music!
Vince was with us at Jeff and Joel's House Party this weekend while the
awards were being presented. With Festivals dying or moving to other
genres, Jeff Barnhart and Joel Schiavone believe House Parties are the way
to go, like the Rent Parties in the old days. There were 15 musicians. It
was 12 hours of fantastic Trad and Dixieland, good company and great food.
Check out Freddy Vigorito's and other comments at www.nejazz.com/FreddyV.htm.
(I'm writing it up for my web site, but it will take a while!)
There were some young people there, hearing it for the first time, and they
really liked the music, and enjoyed listening to it with "all the happy old
people, having a good time".
Boardwalk Empire just might give our music another revival.
