and his Little Molers. Hear Mole's break at the very beginning inb the  
intro. (In place of the usual slide break taken by almost everyone else)

That is a 15 note break over 2 bars, as noted on page 103 of Richard  
Sudhalter's "Lost Chords". Unique in jazz when Mole first played it  
and still "fresh" today.

Sudhalter follows with an explanation of why (perhaps) this kind of  
trombone solo virtuosity was not found earlier in hot music even  
though it was prevalent in classical music prior to WW I. IMO It is an  
interesting thread that links early jazz tailgate trombone with  
current jazz virtuoso trombone.
