That's Streptococc_u_s Mitis, of course.  A nasty little bacterium.

Thank you Steve and Marek for your good wishes.  Steve, I've always 
wanted to walk up Snowdon again (I last did it at age 12) and your 
achievement gives me hope that I might actually accomplish this!

I shall certainly make a point of reading Ricky Riccardi's book - his 
blog is wonderfully entertaining and insightful.
