[Dixielandjazz] Louis Armstrong's birthday

A few weeks ago there was a discussion on the Dixieland Digest mailing list
regarding Louis Armstrong’s birthday. The starting point for that discussion
was the possible existence of an application by Louis for U.S. Social
Security.

 

Ricky Riccardi, Armstrong researcher and author of  What A Wonderful World;
The Magic of Louis Armstrong’s Later Years searched and found a copy of the
application in the Louis Armstrong House Museum’s archives where he is the
Archivist and provided us with information on what can be read in the
document. Unfortunately the document itself couldn’t  be presented on the
mailing list.
