As concerns the claim of ASCAP keeping out black songwriters: Luckey Roberts has
13 songs in the ASCAP catalog. 293 songs by Fats Waller. 103 songs by James P. Johnson.
183 songs by Jon Hendricks. I don't know what years ASCAP published these.
I don't recall the Louis Armstrong recording Hendricks cited where Armstrong credited
Luckey Roberts as the writer of "Stardust". Anyone have a link to it?
I've always thought "Stardust" was heavily influenced by Hoagy's friend Bix Beiderbecke.
Sounds much more like Bix than stride piano.
