Hi Dick. "Gig Book" was meant for dixieland bands who play for events with
general audiences as a reference book for non-dixieland and post-1940s
non-rock tunes that well might be requested. One never knows what might be
requested, and it could save yer arse. It also has all sorts of ballroom
dances, polkas, novelty dances.

My dance band (Sultans of Swing) had a swing wedding; someone came up and
said the bride and her friends were dedicated *cloggers* and did we have
something we could play. When we said we had nothing, she returned and
asked "How about "Rocky Top". "Gig Book" enabled us, she gave us a tempo,
and off we went for ca. 10 minutes, and it was the hit of the reception.
