There is nothing complicated or mysterious about the label, Mickey band. It was simply a term to describe a certain type of band back in the late 30's and the 40's. We had "Swing Bands", "Sweet Bands" "MIckey Mouse Bands", "Hill Billy Bands", "Harmonica Bands", and more. Just another descriptive term for bands like Tommy Tucker and his Tic Toc Rhythm; Shep Fields and his Rippling Rhythm; Sammy Kaye; Orrin Tucker; etc, etc, etc And they were all very popular with the non-hip general public and made good money.
