[Dixielandjazz] Question About a band ??? and his sliding rhythm

Here is a question from a non-member friend:


Back in 1938 -1940 there was a band that was announced as : "So and so
and his sliding rhythm".  He had three slide  trumpets and three
trombones. three reeds and three rhythm. Dance band, some swing.
Too old for you to answer, perhaps someone on DJML knows?
