Great word coinage....love it, Bob!

Must tell you, though, that there were NO "Malodies" at the Jubilee By the
Sea in Pismo last weekend....really, really a great music weekend. The
established favorites were all in good form, as were the younger musicians.

Keep your eyes and ears out for the Au brothers--Gordon, Brandon and Justin.
They are the nephews of Howard Miyata, of High Sierra...but they are so
talented that they really don't need the "Howard's nephews" introduction any
more. Gordon has been a pro for quite a while now, in NO and NYC, and the
younger brothers play very HOT and CLASSY. I believe Brandon and Justin are
both in graduate school. Their sets included Howard on tuba, Katie Cavera
on guitar and Danny Coots on drums...can't beat this combination!

Another younger group that has risen through the ranks of HS groups and
local performances is The Red Skunk, Jipzee Swing Band, led by Molly Reeves.
Hope to see a lot more of them. I picked up their CD "Hot and Haunting,"
and all of the musicians have a chance to shine on this one. Look forward
to seeing them again in San Diego. Check out their Facebook page, too.

Re: Bob Smith's response to Marek:

Assuming your word "malody"* (sic) was a typo, I think you've just coined a
new word to describe a badly constructed attempt at playing an improvised
melodic line. I think it could be just the word to describe a jarring
improvisation that a) doesn't follow the chord sequence, or b) loses the
logical sequence in the melodic improvisation, or c) has a few unintentional

squeaks or muffed notes.

*akin to "malodorous".
