Good guess, Bill. Here is the answer:
Kenny Ball (tp), Norman Cave (tb), Sid Phillips (cl), Arthur Fall (p),
unknown (b), Mike Nicholson (d).
Personnel provided by Kenny Ball himself...

Subject: "Dixielanders Anonymous"
Dear Friends,
This query is directed at our older UK and ex-Brit Canadian listmates.
(And perhaps, my friend Gerard Bielderman.)
I have had in my collection, for ages, an LP (Donegal DON 1003) by
'Dixielanders Anonymous' recorded in
London in February 1957.
"Tunes you have hummed; played in the New Orleans Manner by a group of
British Jazzmen."
No names or hints provided, but the musicians are described as
"dyed-in-the-wool, full-time professional all-British jazzmen."
OK, after all this time can the secret be revealed?
Who were/are they?
I want to know.
The tune list on the LP:
Aggravatin' Papa
If I Had You
I Can't Dance
I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter
Ida
Avalon
When My Baby Smiles At Me
Stairway to paradise
Muskrat Ramble
I Can't Believe That You're In Love With Me
Makin' Whoopee
My Bonnie
It is musically competent, with no surprises
And certainly not a driving hot group like the Kenny Ball band.
Trumpet, clarinet, trombone, piano, string bass and drums.
Ersatz dixieland.
After listening to the LP just now, my guess is that the musicians are from
London's 50's (anyone-can-play-dixieland) big band clique.
We had them here in Australia at that time.
Maybe, after all, I don't need to know.

Very kind regards,
Bill.
