[Dixielandjazz] Jon-Erik Kellso and "West Coast" style jazz

Jon-Erik can play almost any style and sight-read anything placed in front
him. He has a huge knowledge of early jazz acquired by spending years
listening to the great historical recordings. He sets a fine example of
scholarship along with great musical talent and taste.

Just because a person hears a player in one setting doesn't mean the
musician can't "assume a different role" by changing their style slightly.
It's my understanding trumpeters playing classical music frequently have to
change how they play according to the music required, i.e., they don't play
the same for a piece by Bach as they would for a piece by Bartok.
