Hi All,
I happened upon a 2008 film "Easy Virtue on cable TV the other night, it had
a lot of interesting semi-OKOM music in the soundtrack. I don't recall any
discussion of the film on DJML - but I may be wrong....
The film itself is a romantic comedy set in the UK between the wars ( pretty
much predictable Grade B, but of current interest because Colin Firth is in
it ) and it had the look of a film that ran out of money 3/4 way through
production. However, according to Wiki it was released in 2009 and enjoyed
some success.

The music reminded me of Temperance 7, Palm Court, early Bonzo Dogs, and a
bit of Palast Orchester. Some of the songs were more modern pop songs redone
in OKOM style - a bit surprising, sometimes! I have not found a list of
performers yet. However, The "Orchestra" was introduced verbally by the
leader Marius De Vries during the end credits - rather nicely - and also got
written credits. It would be nice if that happened in other films! De Vries
also was music director for "Moulin Rouge" and other interesting things (

There is a soundtrack CD available on Amazon and other distribution sites.
Many of the tracks can be found on Youtube with a search on Easy Virtue
Orchestra
This may be yet another time when the soundtrack is more interesting and
unpredictable than the film!
