[Dixielandjazz] Valaida Snow and Washboard Rhythm Kings

Hello all

Virtually all discographies (including Rust) get it wrong when they list
Valaida Snow as playing with the Washboard Rhythm Kings on the 5 October
1932 recording session.

The error arises due to not realising that Valaida had two sisters -
Lavaida and Alvaida. Lavaida, using her married name Lavaida Carter,
sings on 2 sides from the 05.10.32 session and does not play trumpet.
The trumpet player sounds nothing like Valaida and is probably Taft Jordan.

Rust compounds the confusion by giving 'Lavada (sic) Carter' in the
personnel list and 'vLS' in the track listing. I assume that 'LS' means
Lavaida Snow.

And who said discography isn't fun? :-)

All the best,
Anton
