Sad news indeed. I met Bert just the once at a festival in California (either Sacto or LA Classic) many years ago when I was in a band following one in which he was playing. We later chewed the fat over a beer or two. He was a fine player, a genuinely likeable person and great company. Who wouldn't settle for that as an epitaph?
