Gene also sang at least one of his old songs on his TV show, seen weekly on the CBS network, also helping keep the songs alive.  When I was 4 years old, I knew all the lyrics to "Back in the Saddle Again."

Gene insisted on publishing many of the songs
that he used on the radio, recording and in the
movies. He also invested heavily by buying
radio stations and early tv outlets.
He purchased all his films from Republic. The
movie moguls were afraid of tv. Gene kept his
songs alive by running the movies on his own tv station(s).
