Hello,
Just back from an Isradixie concert at Bella Shlomkins.
The place was full to capacity, with people of various ages.
Considering that it was hardly advertised, it is some achievement! On
the other hand, the organizer, a lady from the former USSR by the name
of Leena, calls har contacts to inform them about her events. The
events are also publicized on the Afisha (posters in Russian) website.
The website opens in Russian, but once open offers a Hebrew option
for non-Russian speakers. Hence, Russian speakers far outnumber
others.  I was actually surprised to hear people conversing in Hebrew;
often, when there, I have the feeling that we (my friends and I) are
the only non-Russian speakers (although both my friend Donna and I do
speak Russian, albeit as a foreign langauage).
Anyway, tha band, as always, was excellent. As usual, it had one new
number, a Sidney Bechet but my French is non-existent, so I did not
quite get the title. And the arrangement of Bourbon St. Parade
sounded somewhat different than on previous occasions. Paul Moore
took care of the entertainment section, and his words to "What a
Wonderful World" were simply hilarious (although he sang the regular
words as well).
Isradixie was followed by a youth big band from Jerusalem. That's bad
programming - the band was not bad, but should not have followed the
excellent and experienced (Isra)dixielanders.

The place calls itself "Music Bar and Restaurant," and serves pretty
good food. I can't wait for another event there!
Cheers
