[Dixielandjazz] Airline policies

Last September there was a thread on this site re the policy of airlines
banning most musical instruments as cabin luggage. A petition was organised
but if it had any result, I haven't heard.

Here in Australia, Perth saxophonist Jamie Oehlers (whose horn was damaged
in a cargo hold) raised a campaign on Facebook (whatever that is) and drew
8700 supporters.

It changed the policy of Australia's airline Qantas, that now allows any
instrument to be carried on board as long as it doesn't exceed 81 cm length,
30 cm high and 19 cm deep. This is slightly more than the normal carry on
limit.

A victory for common sense and people power.

Best wishes
