I might add that my older brother, Gordon, often plays with these two fine
groups in New York. He also has his own trad jazz band called the Grand
Street Stompers. They have been featured several times in Micheal
Steinman's "Jazzlives" blog, and have many videos on youtube. They do no
yet have their own website, but my brother created a temporary page for them
on his site. Check it out here at:
http://www.gordonaumusic.com/html/text_block.php
They are also preparing to record their first CD. They have set up a
fund-raising site to help cover recording expenses:
http://www.indiegogo.com/The-Grand-St-S%C2%ADtompers
(turn up your volume for the video). If you want to ensure that OKOM
continues to be played by the next generation, please consider helping them
finish their album by donating. You may be eligible to receive a variety of
rewards for your contribution (see the site). I hate to sound like a
walking advertisement, but some of these young musicians barely make enough
to live off of in New York. They would really appreciate your support.
