Re: Ken's response to Steve Voce on ...

An interesting idea the jazz policeman fining a musician on the spot for a Rab
L. Row-Singing performance.

The question is, when does the on the spotness fining occur?
One can see the tenorist in full flow and then the jazz policeman stands up in
front of him like a traffic policeman, hand raised. But since he's not moving
forward the saxophonist sees no need to stop playing, and as he goes on the
policeman keeps trying to attract his attention, moving as he moves, which is to
say rhythmically. Perhaps a conversion experience is at hand?

But then, despite the audience being no rabble, they get roused. People start
clapping the policeman on the shoulder, to congratulate him, what a good idea to
start dancing!

Of course the long tenor solo and the jazz policeman could be the basis of a
ballet, with everyone in the audience joining in

with echoes of the Benny Goodman story...
Ken Mathieson could provide the score using A POLICEMAN'S LOT IS NOT A HAPPY ONE
as the theme ...

Blow!
