A favorite tune of our band and I found the web site:
http://www.greenriverwhiskey.com/
I didn't realize this company was also the inspiration for "They Call It
That Good Old Mountain Dew", a song I used to sing in college. To pass on a
story I told off line to a another listmate:
The Green River Company made pop during the prohibition era which they sold
out the front door and bourbon out the back. I have a Green River pint
bottle that was found in the ground when I excavated for a foundation for a
root cellar at the back of my house. I ran into an old foundation and found
a bunch of similar bottles. Later on I a talked with an old 80 something
neighbor who said he grew up in my house and that his dad used to sneak
these into the outhouse located there and keep the bottles handily tucked
under the seat. Some were too far away to retrieve at the time and were a
surprise waiting for me. This company was located in Kentucky on the Green
River, just below the Indiana State line. Of course, you'll learn all of
that by following the link.
