I won't rule out the possibility of a Whitney Houston version of "Caravan"
being good without hearing it.
I've got the first album she ever recorded and enjoyed it although I
couldn't name one selection on it today.
My pet peeve with her and Patti LaBelle is that they possibly do not realize
that there is that fine line between singing and shouting and too often
cross it.
Only yesterday I was listening to Frank Sinatra's "Duets II" album.
Admittedly his people were not quite as selective as to who they invited to
partner with him (even though their duets were "phoned in") as with the
earlier album
I had the displeasure of hearing Frank and Patti LaBelle's rendition of
"Bewitched".........need I say more?
For my money, best out of the 2 albums was his duet with Carly
Simon........you could actually believe that the two of them were in the
studio singing together. The burden of course fell upon the "guest" as to
being convincing and she came through with flying colors.
And as you know, not only can she sing and write her own songs, but it has
been said that she can bite a tennis ball through a chain link fence.
