Especially for the trombonists

About 70 years ago, shortly after his graduation from the Curtis  
Institute of Music in Philadelphia, the late Glenn Dodson joined the  
Marine Corps Band (The President's Own) It was and still is arguably  
the finest military band in the world.

In his early 20s, Staff Sergeant Glenn was their trombone soloist for  
3 years. Below is a link to one of his solos while with that band.

As many of you know, Glenn went on to become the principal trombone  
for the Philadelphia Orchestra until his retirement. For about 8  
years, until his death, he was the trombonist for Barbone Street JB.  
Extraordinary musician as well as an extraordinary man.
