And having heard him with the New Black Eagles on both violin and cornet
(although not at the same time) I can attest to the fact that he was a very
fine jazz musician!

Here's what "Answers" has to say about him:
"Dick Wetmore (January 13, 1927 - January 4, 2007[1]) was an American
jazz and bebop violinist. He played several musical instruments
including the cornet, trumpet and string bass. Wetmore worked
primarily as a sideman, but also led his own jazz ensembles."
I especially like the "jazz and..." part.
