[Dixielandjazz] Armstrong's birthday

Most of tonight's jazz evening was devoted to Satchmo.  We played
various perids, mainly the 1950's.  But then I put Louis Armstrong in
the "30's and '40's.  He seemed to have unlimited imagination in the
30's, even if the accompanying band was on a sweet side.  What a
player!  I really have no time for the purists who consider that
period inferior and commercial!
