[Dixielandjazz] Sacking

Does it not always fall to the person who gets the job to negotiate the
job; i.e., number of musicians and salary? So as far as I'm concerned it is
the person who books the job who has the privilege of selecting
instrumentation based on his budget and preferences. That "agent" may even just be
picking the musicians just based on who he owes a favor. Of perhaps because
one of them can also sing or communicates well with audiences when the gig
demands that.

The trombonist got the job, maybe hired his friend who plays clarinet and
you as the person who could hold it all together. So, bottom line, the
money and the gig were good enough that you'd do it again, or it wasn't.

I don't think you will get a consensus on order of departure, a majority
vote, maybe.

Last night I did a gig playing piano with a tbn. & a clt.. Neither of
the buggers could play a whole melody correctly. I, as the piano player
ended up playing bass, chords and melody.

This made me think about sacking order as the band gets smaller.
We all know the trombonist goes first but I would like to get a consensus
of opinion on which order it goes from thereon.
PS - the only reason the trombone owner was there was because he got the
job.
