[Dixielandjazz] Sacking

Assuming the typical line-up of a seven piece band (listed in order of survival low to high) this is how I usually see bands shrink. It does make a difference what instrument the leader plays ;-) and availability of a piano or if it is a walk-around gig.  


Drummer (first to go, usually)
Piano (can Survive a bit longer depending on other rhythm section changes)
T-bone
Banjo/guitar
Bass/tuba
Reeds
Trumpet

Not a scientific or logical list - just some experience over the years as a sideman.
