Here are some other birthdays that should make the September 21st list

Del Courtney - 1910 - Band Leader who should be well known to Left
Coast Bay Area residents, if for nothing else, as a buddy, (and frat
brother) of Dave Brubeck.

Frank Orchard - 1914 - trombone/violin/banjo/tuba. Very much a part of
the NYC Dixieland scene working with the Condon gang, Willie the Lion
Smith, Biully Butterfield, Max Kaminsky, Wingy Manone, Bobby Hackett,
Joe Marsala, Jimmy McPartland and Bill Reinhardt.

Tommy Potter - 1918 - bass - perhaps too modern for some of us but he
played with Charlie Parker among others.

Bill Reinhardt - 1908 - Clarinet/French Horn. Also a part of the NYC
jazz scene with Joe and Marty Marsala. Then played at Nick's with
Frank Orchard. Later moved to Chicago. DON INGLE knew him and no doubt
played at his club there, "Jazz Ltd." on East Grand Street. He loved
to hire other reed men and some who played there include, Sidney
Bechet, Frank Chace, Pete Fountain, Darnell Howard, Bob Schroeder,
Bobby Gordon, Charlie Hooks and Chuck Hedges. Muggsy Spanier also
played there, as did Doc Evans, Miff Mole, Art Hodes, Barrtt Deems,
Albert Nicholas, Jim Beebe, and about 650 other OKOM jazz musicians.
It was a LEGENDARY jazz joint. ASK DON INGLE ABOUT THIS JOINT AND BILL.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone
