Ken, I would suggest the Bourbon Orleans.  It is just behind Jackson Square
and about 4 or 5 blocks to the Williams Research Centre.  It also is just
about 1/2 block over to Fritzels where you can catch good -- no make that
**great** music every night.

I'm hoping to go to New Orleans to do some research and a bit of
sightseeing. I'll be doing my research at the Historic New Orleans
Collection's Williams Research Centre at 410 Chartres St. Can anyone with
local knowledge recommend a good hotel within walking distance? Many thanks
