Truly sad news - one of my best New Orleans listening nights was spent there
- the brass band didn't start until 11:30 p.m. and I was on a stool at the
bar.  "Uncle" Lionel Batiste walked in and sat next to me.  He treated me as
if I was a part of the band, as did the various band members who came up to
chat with him.  He sang Back o' Town Blues with the band around 1:30 a.m.,
and the band played until 2:30 a.m.  The location wasn't great, but the
music and people were fantastic....  RIP Donna's...

On of the more interesting places in New Orleans for those who like  
the "new directions" of NO brass bands - I had some great times there  
during Jazzfest weeks in the 1990s.
