Does anyone know how he got all the performers in the same key, in tune, and
at the same tempo.

Bob, you could see the engineer bent over something that must have been a
portable mixer in several shots.  At quick glance I saw at least one of the
performers with headphones on.  Note that there were 2 or 3 "basic" voices
used throughout, so those were most likely fed to others by earphones & used
as tempo & for tone.  Or, a prerecorded track was recorded for everyone to
"sing along with".

I'll bet he had tons of non-used material!   :>
