Hi all,
Over on the TubaEuph list the subject of a musical style from some
rural Black churches in the deep south called "Shout Band" came up -
the form is sort of traditional jazz, call and response, riffs, and
trombone driven gospel. Not exactly OKOM, but close enough for me!
There is a compilation CD of some of the bands here:
http://www.folkways.si.edu/albumdetails.aspx?itemid=2649 and short
samples can be heard there.
More info here:

and a video from a current band:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WraSI0-KGGU - also a lot of related
videos.
Very interesting, joyous music!
